After attending this course between February and April 2023, I was able to secure my first role in the Games Industry, being a freelance contractor doing Community Management for those attending the course.
The aim of the course is to get gamers equipped with the skills needed to get them in to the Games Industry.
In this, I have become a success story of the course, starting my first role in the Games Industry, which I did under a freelance contract for 3 months.
For the games that I am a Community Ambassador for, I look to review the growth of the communities and what's next.
See below for Rise of Berk. More to come.
Rise of Berk Community Growth Report (pdf)
DownloadAfter taking over the subreddit for the nearly ten year old game, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, I worked with the Community Management team at Jam City to see what they had planned for the upcoming events & features and what topics could be created to push engagement. I was able to increase the unique views and members by scheduling end of event posts & asking for feedback which was then communicated back via Discord voice calls with developers and the Community Management team.
As part of the Community Ambassador role with Ludia, I work with the Community Manager for the game to be notified of new features & upcoming events. By strategically hinting at new updates, this allows for extra conversation in the community and as seen in the image the Discord gets almost 30,000 messages a month. This is also due to great community resources & Discord bots created for the Rise of Berk community.
In running the subreddit, as a Community Ambassador, I managed to maintain between 48-52k monthly views by creating engaging content in the form of memes & polls and by sharing official information.
Within the related Discord, I was able to drive a 62% member retention of new members for 2022-2023, and work with the carefully selected moderation team, chosen by myself and another subreddit admin, to produce community bots/resources to assist players.
